Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs Phee’s Meeting with Chadian Prime Minister Albert Pahimi

Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs Molly Phee met with Prime Minister Albert Pahimi Padacke in N’Djamena.  The Assistant Secretary and the Prime Minister discussed the progression of Chad’s transition, including the ongoing Doha pre-dialogue and the upcoming national dialogue in N’Djamena as important components of a peaceful transition to civilian-led, democratically-elected government by the end of 2022.  They affirmed the shared U.S.-Chadian commitment to partnering on security in the Sahel, as well as efforts to combat trafficking in persons.  The Assistant Secretary and the Prime Minister expressed support for the Ukrainian people and for the principles of the UN and AU Charters currently threatened by Russia’s aggression in Ukraine.  The two agreed that bilateral cooperation will advance shared mutual interests and contribute to stability and prosperity for the Chadian people.
