Chad: 2018 Mandela Washington Fellows Inspire Young Chadians

Chad’s four 2018 @Mandela Washington Fellows – Ms. Nadine Solkem, Mr. Kendoara Badjigui, Mr. Israel Djonabaye, and Mr. Mystère Belmamou – inspired fellow Chadians during a December 13 presentation at the U.S. Embassy. Using their programs at American universities as a springboard, the Fellows described how their experience with the Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) flagship program equipped them to take on greater leadership roles. From agriculture to community service, and from entrepreneurship to leadership training, the Fellows emphasized how they are helping make a difference in their communities and beyond.

In his welcoming remarks, U.S. Embassy Chargé d’Affaires Richard Bell congratulated the Fellows and noted that the purpose of the Mandela Washington program “is to support the next generation of entrepreneurs and leaders who demonstrate exceptional leadership.” Audience members, eager to learn more, asked questions about the Fellows’ time in the U.S. and how they are putting into practice what they learned.
