Chad’s 2019 Mandela Washington Fellows spoke about the powerful impact of their experiences in the United States and their ambitious plans at home in Chad during an October 9 press conference at the U.S. Embassy. The Fellows detailed the academic, professional, and community service opportunities at their host universities and at the Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) Summit in Washington, DC. In her welcome remarks, Chargé d’Affaires, a.i. Jessica Davis Ba highlighted that “L’objectif principal du programme YALI est de promouvoir le leadership au sein de la jeunesse de l’Afrique Sub-saharienne afin de rendre les jeunes plus responsables et à même de contribuer au développement de leurs pays.”
