Chargé Bell and some of the 120 students who discussed civil rights issues in commemoration of African-American History Month gather outside the lecture hall at HEC-Tchad University.

 

 

On February 20, approximately 120 students and faculty gathered at HEC-Tchad University lecture hall to discuss the American civil rights movement and the many contributions of African-Americans to the development of the United States.  Chargé d’Affaires, a.i. Richard K. Bell participated in the discussion, which resulted in a spirited and informative exchange of opinions and viewpoints.  University founder, and former IVLP participant, Dr. Ali Abdel-Rhamane Haggar warmly welcome the Chargé and expressed his hope that greater engagement with the U.S. Embassy would ensue.
