Demonstration Alert: March in N'Djamena (February 17, 2022)

Location: N’Djamena, Chad

Event:  There are reports of a planned march in N’Djamena on Friday, February 18th beginning at 0700 hours. The organizers have identified the following starting points: Rond-Point Chagoua, Rond-Point Dembe and Bourse du Travail.

Normal traffic may be disrupted during the march.

Government security forces have sometimes deployed tear gas to disperse past protests.

Actions to Take:

  • Avoid areas where demonstrations are taking place.
  • Exercise caution if unexpectedly in the vicinity of large gatherings and demonstrations
  • Seek shelter when gunfire is taking place.
  • Monitor local media for updates.
  • Keep a low profile.
