Demonstration Alert – U.S. Embassy N’Djamena, Chad

Location:  Area around the Felix Eboue School, Ardep Djoumal neighborhood, N’Djamena, Chad

Event:  Chadian civil servants’ strike and the potential for protests by students and others to become violent.

The U.S. Embassy ‎in Chad recommends that U.S. citizens exercise increased caution when traveling around N’Djamena.  U.S. government personnel are advised to avoid the area around the Felix Eboue School between 6:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. until further notice and any other location where crowds have gathered, especially schools.

Actions to Take:

  • Avoid the areas of the demonstrations.
  • Exercise caution if unexpectedly in the vicinity of large gatherings or protests as they may turn violent unexpectedly.
  • Monitor local media for updates
  • Keep a low profile.
