Location: N’Djamena, Chad
Event: Monday, May 1, is Chadian Labor Day. The crowds, festivities, and parade will be centered around Place de la Nation for the entire day starting at 0600. Chadians will celebrate at Place de la Nation and crowds are expected to exceed 5,000 people. This event is a national celebration and is expected to be peaceful. Traffic is expected to be severely affected and restrictive around the Klemat neighborhood (green), and Avenue Général Kerim Nassour.
Actions to Take:
- Avoid areas where large crowds are gathering.
- Exercise caution if unexpectedly in the vicinity of large gatherings and demonstrations.
- Seek shelter if gunfire occurs.
- Always carry proof or a copy of your legal presence in Chad, such as a U.S. passport with visa, or a residency card, and any required Chadian government travel permissions.
- Monitor local media for updates.
- Keep a low profile.
- Review your passport expiration date and consider making an appointment to review your passport if necessary.
- Have a personal emergency action plan.
