What to Bring

If you are a U.S. citizen over the age of 16 and applying for a renewal of your U.S. passport, you’ll need:

  1. Completed Form DS 82.
  2. Your old passport.
  3. A recent passport photograph (2” x 2” on a white background).
  4. The total fee of USD 110.00 is required at the time of application. The fee can be paid in equivalent CFA, based on the current exchange rate.

If you are a U.S. Citizen, over the age of 16, applying for your first passport, you’ll need:

  1. Completed Form DS-11.
  2. The citizen’s official, original birth certificate or a certified true copy.
  3. A recent passport photograph (2” x 2” on a white background).
  4. The total fee of USD 145.00 is required at the time of application. The fee can be paid in equivalent CFA, based on the current exchange rate.

Reporting and replacing a Lost or Stolen Passport

  1. Completed Forms DS 64 and DS 11.
  2. Police report.
  3. A recent passport photograph (2” x 2” on a white background).
  4. Proof of U.S. citizenship such as a U.S. birth certificate, Report of Birth Abroad, or Naturalization Certificate.
  5. Evidence to establish identity, such as a driver’s license with photograph, ID card with photograph or passport.
  6. The total fee of USD 145.00 is required at the time of application. The fee can be paid in equivalent CFA, based on the current exchange rate

If renewing or applying for the first passport for a U.S. citizen minor, under the age of 16:

  1. Completed Form DS 11.
  2. The citizen must be physically present at the time of application.
  3. The citizen’s official, original birth certificate or a certified true copy is required.
  4. A recent passport photograph (2” x 2” on a white background).
  5. Both parents must be present with government-issued ID. If a parent is not present, a notarized letter of consent or Form DS 3053 is required authorizing the other parent to renew the passport. In case of death of one parent, the custodial parent should submit a Death Certificate. In case of divorce, both parents’ signatures are required unless a divorce decree with custody authority granted by an appropriate court demonstrates sole custody by the applying parent.
  6. Photos of the progressive aging and physical changes of the child may be necessary if the photo shown on the old passport does not reflect current physical appearance. If the first passport was issued to an infant, please provide photos from every age of the child, if possible.
  7. If renewing a passport, the previous U.S. passport must be presented.
  8. The total fee for a first-time minor applicant or replacement is USD 115.00 and required at the time of application. The fee can be paid in equivalent CFA, based on the current exchange rate.

Emergency passport for urgent travel

Emergency passports may be issued for emergency travel when waiting for the full-validity passport to arrive from the U.S. would cause the applicant medical, personal, financial or other hardship. Please provide proof of imminent travel (i.e., existing airline tickets) and reason for emergency (i.e., police report or medical report). The total fee of USD 145.00 is required at the time of application. The fee can be paid in equivalent CFA, based on the current exchange rate.
