Event: The U.S. Embassy in N’Djamena informs U.S. citizens that on August 20, 2019 the Government of the Republic of Chad declared a state of emergency in Ouaddaï and Sila provinces due to ongoing intercommunal violence. The Government of the Republic of Chad also declared a state of emergency in Tibesti province. The state of emergency will last until September 10, 2019.
Actions to Take: The U.S. Government discourages all travel to these areas. Monitor local media for updates. Check regularly for updates from the Embassy and the U.S. Department of State (links below).
