Security Alert – U.S. Embassy N’Djamena, Chad (June 1, 2018)
Location: N’Djamena, particularly areas near schools and universities
Event: Chadian civil servants’ strike and the potential for protests by students and others to become violent.
The U.S. Embassy in Chad continues to advise U.S. citizens to exercise increased caution when traveling around N’Djamena. U.S. Embassy personnel are no longer restricted from the area around the Felix Eboue School. However, the continuing civil servants’ strike could lead to protests by students and others with little or no advance notice.
Actions to Take:
- Avoid large crowds and demonstrations.
- Exercise caution if unexpectedly in the vicinity of large gatherings or protests.
- Monitor local media for updates
- Keep a low profile.
