Security Message for U.S. Citizens: Uptick in Crime

U.S. Embassy N’Djamena wishes to inform U.S. citizens of an uptick in armed robberies and petty crime in N’Djamena.  The Embassy has received multiple reports of armed robberies in the immediate vicinity of restaurants, hotels, and popular establishments in N’Djamena.  Several U.S. citizens have been injured in these robberies, which involved weapons such as knives and firearms.

U.S. citizens are reminded to remain vigilant, to avoid large crowds, and to take personal safety precautions at all times, especially when frequenting popular establishments.  Report incidents to the Chadian National Police and the U.S. Embassy as soon as possible.

In the event of an emergency, the Chadian National Police can be contacted by dialing 2020 from any cell phone.  U.S. citizens are also encouraged to file a report of any crime by visiting the Central Commissariat in N’Djamena or their closest police station outside of the capital.
