U.S. Department of State Assistant Secretary for Population, Refugees, and Migration (PRM) Anne C. Richard visited Chad from April 1 – 7. In N’Djamena, she met with Chadian government officials and representatives of both international and non-governmental organizations, as well as participating in an inter-ministerial committee meeting on refugees and returnees. The purpose of her visit is to gain a first-hand understanding of refugee and returnee conditions in Chad, confer with counterpart organizations on assistance programs, and provide an update on the views of the U.S. Government on refugee and returnee-related matters. After meeting with the ministerial committee, she talked to the local journalist.
