U.S. Department of State Deputy Assistant Secretary for African Affairs Visits Chad

Visiting U.S. Department of State Deputy Assistant Secretary for African Affairs, David Gilmour, and U.S. Ambassador, James Knight, were received by Chadian President Idriss Deby Itno. The meeting focused on the peace and security in the sub-region. Talking to the journalists after the meeting, M. Gilmour thanked President Deby for his efforts to promote peace and security in the sub-region and his support to humanitarian assistance to refugees fleeing violence in neighboring countries. DAS Gilmour’s other activities include  meetings with the Minister of Justice, Young African Leaders Initiative alumni, members of the National Assembly, Humphrey, Fulbright and International Visitor Leadership Program alumni, and a visit to the Access Program where he attended a series of skits, poems and songs presented by the Access students.
