As part of the U.S. Embassy’s ongoing engagement to increase service delivery capacity and strengthen ties between local authorities and civilians in the Lac Region, the U.S. Agency for International Development Office of Transition Initiatives (USAID/OTI) rehabilitated and equipped the Office of the Mayor of Bol. The transformed facility was introduced to the public during a September 9 open house.
The Office of the Mayor of Bol provides basic public services for more than 50,000 people residing in the Lac Region’s capital and 30 surrounding villages.
The rehabilitation of the Mayor’s Office complements an Embassy initiative to issue up to 20,000 birth certificates to Lac residents who do not have them. One local resident said, “We were very happy to learn about the rehabilitation of the Office of the Mayor. Thanks to this, the community will have an improved image of the Office.”
