Due to the bombings in N’Djamena on Monday, June 15, Monday, June 29, and Saturday, July 11, U.S. Embassy staff is restricted from visiting public, open-air markets at any time, and may not attend or visit public events not held at US government facilities.  The U.S. Embassy encourages U.S. citizens to observe the same precautions as U.S. Embassy staff.

U.S. citizens are encouraged to review and follow the guidance in the Travel Warning for Chad, and remain alert for potentially dangerous situations.  U.S. citizens should avoid locations frequented by foreigners, including shops, restaurants, bars, and places of worship. U.S. citizens are reminded to exercise caution throughout Chad, and maintain vigilance in daily affairs, even when visiting familiar locations.
