Ambassador James Knight hosted a signing ceremony at the U.S. Embassy for two letters of agreement from the African Development Foundation (ADF), a public corporation of the U.S. government that awards economic development grants to marginalized and underserved populations in Africa. The recipients are the Djamadji Group from the West Logone region in Moundou, which seeks to create a banana plantation, and the RO KE NDO Group, which looks to increase the number and quality of the sheep they already produce. The financial awards to Djamadji and RO KE NDO total $18,700 (FCFA 9.4 million).
The Embassy congratulates the groups for having been selected to receive grant assistance given the high level of competition from hundreds of applicants. These two ADF grants complement three earlier ADF grants that were awarded in May 2013.
