The Commanding General of AFRICOM’s Special Operations Command, U.S. Major General James Linder, visited Chad August 20 – 22 to meet with his Chadian counterparts and other officials to discuss military matters of bilateral and regional concern. At the Ministry of Defense on August 21, he met with General Ndoubayo Marc, Deputy Chief of Staff. Major General Linder’s trip to Chad is simply the latest in a series of high-level exchanges that have occurred between American and Chadian officials in 2014. So far this year, Chad has been visited by two Congressional Delegations from the U.S. House of Representatives, two Department of State Assistant Secretaries, the Secretary of the U.S. Navy, and the USARAF Deputy Commander. All this, in addition to the meeting between Presidents Obama and Deby in Washington during the US-Africa Leaders Summit, August 6-8.
