On December 3, Deputy Chief of Mission Jessica Davis Ba and H.E. Lucie Beassemda, Deputy Secretary General of the Government launched the 2020 Fiscal Transparency Innovation Fund project to develop a website for the Directorate General of Public Procurement Control (DGCMP) at the U.S. Embassy in N’Djamena.

The State Department supports budget transparency through targeted grants to its partners around the world. Chad is one of 16 countries to receive support from the 2020 Transparency Innovation Fund: a $100,000 grant for the development of a website for the Directorate General of Public Procurement Control (DGCMP), who will publish all tenders for construction or goods. The website will reduce government spending by increasing competition for public procurement through greater visibility for all potential bidders and will help to fight corruption. A bidding progress tracking tool will encourage the media and the public to hold the government accountable for awarding contracts on time, fairly, and with transparency.
