Summary: The U.S. Mission in N’Djamena, Chad is seeking one eligible and qualified applicant for the position of Trades Helper Carpenter in the Facility Maintenance Section.
The work schedule for this position is:
- Full Time (40 hours per week)
Start date: Candidate must be able to begin working within a reasonable period of time (2 weeks) of receipt of agency authorization and/or clearances/certifications or their candidacy may end.
Supervisory Position: No
Duties: The incumbent assists the Carpenter in the performance of his work. On instruction from the Carpenter or under general guidance of the journeymen carpenters, the Trades Helper Carpenter fabricates easily constructed furniture items such as shelves, frames, crates or lift-vans. S/he stores and maintains tools, cleans shop and project areas.
Qualifications and Evaluations
EDUCATION: Primary School is required.
EXPERIENCE: A minimum of 6 months semi-skilled manual work is required.
JOB KNOWLEDGE: Incumbent must have knowledge of SOPs used in Carpentry work.
LANGUAGE Level II English and level III French are required (languages will be tested).
SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Must be able to perform more than one skill, use a manual lift and have basic numerical skills.
Qualifications: All applicants under consideration will be required to pass medical and security certifications.

The certification letter should be on letterhead of the appropriate military branch of the service and contain (1) the military service dates including the expected discharge or release date; and (2) the character of service.
