A dozen social entrepreneurs from Chadian volunteer organizations and communal associations participated in an American Embassy program on NGO Management, September 25. At the workshop community activists and NGO leaders examined and discussed the essentials of setting up and operating an NGO in Chad, “NGO Management 101,” as it were.
Most of the invitees are already active in national NGOs and community groups, but the opportunity to review operational essentials, discuss organizational challenges, and exchange experiences with their Chadian counterparts proved too good an opportunity to miss. Led and moderated by National NGO Training Coordinator, Altengar Bedaye, the half day program exceeded already high participant expectations; the President of the Disabled Children’s Association perhaps best expressed it when he said: “The workshop’s content was solid and well presented, but for me equally important and useful was the dialogue and discussion I had with my fellow community activists.”
Workshop attendees came from Chadian NGOs and associations working on disability issues, women’s empowerment, cultural preservation, and children’s rights.
